Dear Radish Reader,

Once again it's getting to be SPRING around here. I saw a bluejay go inside a squirrels nest and come out with a peanut! They are pirates, those bluejays!

I'm reading Robert Louis Stevenson, TREASURE ISLAND, which is fun! Pirates really are quite terrible, cute movie stars notwithstanding. Just because you're cute does not mean you can get away with murder (as big sisters have told their little sisters for ages). So there. In fact, all the more reason to be super-nice, if you are cute. It's easy to be bad, much more courageous to be good!

PS, I'm really into INDIAN FOOD. I made Chicken Vindaloo! I made it a bit less hot than a person from India would make it, but it was still very very yummy. Try some! It's fun to say VINDALOO!

Oh and Alice from the UK wrote to me. I drew this Alice in Wonderland for her!

Well, besides that, go out and get yourself some daffydils, and also some tomato seeds, and figure out what to do with them.

Of course, since my new book is coming out, I must mention it in every letter.

Get it at your bookstore! How to Draw a Sailing Cat and 99 other adventurous things, and it's all about Little Man and his travels in a toy boat with a Polka Dot sail.

FUN !

Write soon, dear Radish readers!

Love,

Joy!

Dearest Radish Reader,

OH MY GOSH, don't even ASK me where I've been, especially after I spent my last letter extolling the virtues of writing letters.

Hey guess what though - my new book is coming out in March 2009 and it is really wonderful, so watch for it! The fox lesson on my website is from that book. How to Draw a Sailing Cat and 99 other adventurous things, and it's all about Little Man and his travels in a toy boat with a Polka Dot sail.

FUN !

also, Don't forget valentines, I have two kinds on my website for you.

and, You might be pleased to know that a FOX is visiting my back yard. I am pleased, anyway.

AND - I have been making christmas cookies, since you asked:

I gave them to my neighbors for christmas cards. It's ideal because instead of wondering what to do with the cards you've received, whether to save them in a box or cut out all the pictures or what - you simply EAT them. Problem solved.

Love,

Joy
